Nimble miniature robots

A team led by Asst Prof Lum Guo Zhan at the School of MAE, has created miniature robots to do tasks such as pick and drop items, swim by 'flapping its fins’, and orientate themselves to fit through tight crevices in barriers.

This team of scientists has developed millimetre-sized robots (made-in-NTU) that can be controlled using magnetic fields to perform highly manoeuvrable and dexterous manipulations. This could pave the way to possible future applications in biomedicine and manufacturing.
