MAE professor awarded grant at Singapore Energy Grand Challenge

MAE Asst Prof Ng Bing Feng from the Energy Research Institute @ NTU has developed a new method of using sound waves to concentrate pollutants in exhaust fumes, making it easier to trap and treat these particles. It has the potential to achieve at least 10 to 15 per cent energy savings for the exhaust fans and related systems. For the innovative solution, Asst Prof Ng was awarded a grant at this year's Singapore Energy Grand Challenge (Industry and Research Community) organised by the Energy Market Authority (EMA).

He will take the proof-of-concept to a real-world test environment together with industry partner JFE Engineering Corp, at the Waste-To-Energy Research Facility in Tuas.
