To commemorate Singapore’s 60th year of independence, the NTU leadership and staff came together to honour the nation’s milestone in a forward-looking way – by investing in its students.
Launched in August, the SG60 NTU Bursary Fund has raised more than S$170,000 within three months. This fund will provide support for deserving students who face financial challenges in pursuing their studies at NTU.
Ms See E’jin, NTU Chief Development Officer, presented a cheque to Professor Christian Wolfrum, NTU Deputy President and Provost, at a university event, which saw S$162,792 being raised as of 24 October.
Ms See E’jin, Chief Development Officer at NTU, shared the inspiration behind the campaign, “SG60 was more than a national milestone. It was an opportunity for NTU to reaffirm our collective commitment to our students. The SG60 NTU Bursary Fund reflects what we stand for as a community – opening doors, enabling dreams, and ensuring that no student’s potential is limited by circumstance.”
A collective effort from the NTU community
Faculty and staff across the university rallied behind this meaningful initiative, reflecting NTU’s culture of care and shared purpose.
“As a senior member of the NTU community, I give to help our younger members explore freely and realise their full potential with less financial worries – trusting that they will one day do the same for others,” said Dr Hong Yan, Senior Lecturer, School of Biological Sciences.
For many staff donors, giving to the SG60 NTU Bursary Fund was not just about marking a national milestone, but also about expressing care for NTU students and belief in the power of education to transform lives.
“Singapore continues to advance and progress because of our strong focus on education. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps to create a brighter future for someone in need,” said Mr George Ng, Deputy Director, Office of Development & Facilities Management.
More than a campaign, the SG60 NTU Bursary Fund exemplifies how the NTU community transforms milestones into meaningful action. Through this collective effort, NTU celebrates not only the nation’s milestone, but also the compassion and commitment that define the University.
