Successful Online Event between CSCEC Singapore and Nanyang Technological University
Singapore, 28 April 2023 — Continuing its commitment to bridging theory and practice, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) Singapore has built a strong partnership with local universities to enhance students’ understanding of the nation’s rapidly evolving construction landscape. Over the past four years, the company has hosted a series of knowledge-sharing initiatives that promote technological exchange and inspire the next generation of construction professionals.

In collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), CSCEC Singapore successfully conducted an online seminar titled “Residential Project Development and Project Construction Management.” The event was jointly organised by CSCEC Singapore’s Human Resources Department, Engineering Technology Center, Venture Capital Department, and Comprehensive Office, drawing participation from 40 students from NTU’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) alongside CSCEC’s new employees.
The seminar opened with welcome addresses from Ms Liang Lulu, Assistant General Manager of the Human Resources and Administration Department at China Construction South Pacific Development Co. Pte Ltd, and Associate Professor Robert Tiong from NTU’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, who both emphasised the importance of academic-industry collaboration in advancing construction technologies.
Sharing industry perspectives were Mr Francis Chan, General Manager of Real Estate Project Development at China Construction Group, and Mr Wang Baohua, Project Manager of the Twin VEW residential development at China Construction South Pacific. The session was moderated by Mr Sheng Yukun, General Manager of the Engineering Technology Center, who guided the discussion through the key stages of project planning and execution.
An engaging Q&A segment followed, during which participants explored topics such as the Green and Gracious Builder Scheme (GGBS) standards, challenges in high-rise construction, and the Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) production process. The speakers provided valuable insights drawn from real-world experience, deepening students’ understanding of sustainable construction practices and advanced project management approaches.
In his closing remarks, Assoc Prof Robert Tiong expressed his appreciation for CSCEC Singapore’s sustained commitment to enriching students’ practical learning experiences. He highlighted the seminar’s value in offering a holistic view of the real estate development lifecycle, and welcomed the prospect of future collaborations, including site visits to CSCEC’s PPVC facility.
Looking ahead, CSCEC Singapore remains dedicated to strengthening ties between academia and industry. Through continued knowledge-exchange activities with local universities, the company aims to provide students and fresh graduates with up-to-date industry insights while leveraging academic innovation to drive greater efficiency, sustainability, and transformation within Singapore’s construction sector.
