The main research theme under this research cluster:
- Develop local project TBM database, in collaboration with LTA and industries, so as to provide easy to use information on key parameters in project bidding/planning.
- Develop AI algorithm to model TBM performance, so as to achieve optimized cost-effective TBM excavation scheduling.
- Develop TBM coupled geophysics tools for geological condition prediction during TBM excavation.
- Develop 3D underground tunneling visualisation system to assist TBM tunnelling, by utilizing the available database and 3D geological map from BCA.
- Develop comprehensive TBM construction management system, incorporating manpower need, equipment allocation, TBM parameter setting, geological modelling and 3D visualisation, risk prediction, and cost-benefit analysis.
