🔍 Start Exploring Before You Decide

You don’t need to be looking for a job or internship to make the Career Fair useful.

With more than 100 employers across 17 sectors in one place, it is a chance to see just how varied the possibilities are for computing graduates. Explore different industries, discover roles you may not have encountered before, and talk to employers about what the work actually involves.

The earlier you start exploring, the more time you have to discover what interests you – and make informed choices about what you want to learn and where those interests might take you.

📝 Plan Who You Want to Meet

With more than 100 employers at the Fair, you don’t need to visit every booth.

Take a look at the available positions before you go. Shortlist employers or roles that interest you, find out a little about what they do, and think about what you would like to ask them.

A little planning will help you spend your time on the conversations that matter most to you.

With a broader pool of MPEs available across CCDS, you have greater flexibility to deepen existing interests or explore new ones.

Talking to employers can give you another perspective on the choices you make by helping you understand different fields, the work they involve and the knowledge and skills that may be relevant.

You don’t need an elevator pitch. You don’t even need to know whether you want to work for the organisation.

Try asking:

• What kinds of roles do computing graduates take on here?
• What does the work actually involve?
• What skills are becoming more important in your field?
• What do you wish students understood about this industry?
• What could I start learning or exploring now?

Listen to the answers. Ask follow-up questions. The goal is not to impress every employer you meet. It is to leave knowing more than you did when you arrived.

🗓️ Have a Tutorial During the Fair?

If you have a tutorial scheduled during the Career Fair, attendance at the Fair during your tutorial time slot may be counted towards tutorial participation, upon providing evidence of attendance.

Lab attendance remains compulsory.
