About Esther
Esther holds the distinction of the first Chief Sustainability Officer in Singapore, when she was appointed to that position at City Developments Limited (CDL) in 1995. Under her leadership, CDL achieved many other firsts, including:
- Publishing the first sustainability report in Singapore using GRI standards in 2008
- Issuing the first green bond by a Singaporean company in 2017
- Pioneering an SDG Innovation Loan in Singapore in 2019.
Her achievements have earned her global recognition, including:
- 2018 SDG Pioneer for Green Infrastructure and A Low Carbon Economy by the UN Global Compact.
- TIME100 Business Leader - Catalyst and one of Reuters’ 25 Women Trailblazers in 2023.
Esther also contributes to numerous global organisations, serving on boards and advisory platforms such as:
