Research Engineer (Research Assistant or Associate)

The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences, and the Asian School of the Environment, NTU is looking for a highly motivated individual to join us as a Research Engineer on a recently funded highly multidisciplinary multi-year project for wastewater-based epidemiology. The Thompson lab is a newly established research group at NTU with projects on water quality and extremophile biotechnology.

The main responsibility of the research engineer is to design-test-build-implement a system for event-triggered wastewater sampling and ultrafiltration for pathogen concentration and to participate in monitoring for the wastewater-based epidemiology project.

The candidate would be expected to collaborate closely with colleagues in biology and public health, integrating their feedback to improve system design, and participating in monitoring programs with existing and prototype sampling technologies.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of epidemiology principals and/or wastewater engineering systems would be a plus but not essential
  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong communication and data analysis skills
  • Ability to write research reports and publications required
  • Previous experience with sensors, control systems, water filtration technology and prototype development is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of wastewater engineering systems would be a plus but not essential

Interested candidates should contact A/Prof. Thompson at [email protected] for application information. Please include a copy of your CV.
