Applying Immersive Projector with Exergames: A Pilot Study for Older Adults in Singapore

Abstract

Worldwide and Singapore’s population are ageing, there will be a higher demand on medical and health care needs for ageing-related illnesses. Recent developments in immersive and gaming technology and wearable devices have opened up opportunities for using immersive gaming for the purpose of promoting physical activities among older adults. Researchers and companies are trying to create serious exergames with physical activities and data-mining capabilities to engage the older adults in daily activities in both the senior centre settings and home settings.

Based on the previous work with older adults using exergames to promote an active lifestyle, we propose to collaborate with Lion Befrienders Singapore (LB) to incorporate one exergame developed by NTU in LB’s existing immersive projector.
