Why we have to pay attention to violence against medical workers

Sina Finance news (China), Dec 29

In a commentary, Asst Prof Bao Te from the NTU School of Social Sciences analysed the economic impact of violence against medical workers in China. China has recently introduced a new law with the aim of preventing violence against medical workers. The announcement comes just days after a female doctor was stabbed to death at a Beijing hospital. Quoting a study, Asst Prof Bao Te said that the admission score for medical school decreases by 0.72 points whenever severity of medical incidences on the provincial level increase by one percentage point. In the long run, China's medical system may soon fall into the dilemma of having neither good nor any doctors available at all.
