Biography
Dr Julia Föcker is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the Ludwig-Maximilian University, Munich, Germany. Before joining the Department of Psychology at the Ludwig-Maximilian University, Dr Julia held a postdoctoral position at the University of Rochester, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, New York, USA (2010-2012), awarded with a scholarship from the German Research Foundation, followed by a three-year postdoctoral position at the University of Geneva (2012-2015), Switzerland in the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences under the supervision of Prof Daphne Bavelier. Dr Julia’s research interest is in the domain of neural plasticity in the developing and more mature human brain after visual sensory deprivation and after video game experience. For instance, Dr Julia analysed neural plastic changes in the brain after visual sensory deprivation, and further focused on the role of enriched environments, such as video games in shaping neural networks. Currently, Dr Julia is also using virtual reality in order to investigate immersion in different neuropsychological settings.
