NTU Open House 2024

The annual Open House was successfully held on 2 Mar 2024 at NTU campus. We had 2 booths set up at the Nanyang Auditorium, namely for the new College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), also featuring School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) and Turing AI Scholars Programme (TAISP) at Level 3 and Basement 1 respectively.

The crowd’s interest in our programmes was evident with more than 2500 visitors being served at both the booths from 10.00am to 5:00pm. Our faculty members and student ambassadors had a fulfilling time sharing about our programmes, learning opportunities and student experiences with the highly interested potential students and parents.

School Talks:

  • “Begin your Journey in Computing with SCSE” by Associate Professor Lam Siew Kei
  • “All you need to know about NTU’s new premier Turing AI Scholars Programme (TAISP)” by Associate Professor Nicholas Vun Chan Hua
  • “Life at SCSE” by our student ambassadors

Associate Professor Lam Siew Kei delivered the first talk ‘Begin your Journey in Computing with SCSE’ at the Nanyang Auditorium Lecture Theatre. This included our latest addition of undergraduate programmes to be offered under CCDS, namely the Turing AI Scholars Programme and the Bachelor of Science – Artificial Intelligence and Society. He also shared about internship as well as other experiential learning experiences which received an overwhelming number of queries throughout the day.

Associate Professor Nicholas Vun helmed the talk for the new Turing AI Scholars Programme and shared more about the unique features of the programme and scholarship. Successful students will receive one-on-one mentoring from AI specialists, conduct research under the guidance of a distinguished AI professor, spend a year overseas as they study and work at prestigious institutions in academia and industry. The programme also includes six masterclasses, each taught by a world renowned AI researcher or practitioner from a renowned university or company. Upon completing the programme, graduates will have diverse career options in the AI domain. From developing cutting-edge AI technologies for enterprises and government agencies and ministries to founding AI startups and leading initiatives to drive AI adoption across Singapore and regional economies – the possibilities are endless.

Overall, the Open House 2024 was a huge success for our new College and SCSE.

We wish all the applicants the best of luck and look forward to hosting them in AY 2024.
