Emeritus Professorship

Professor Angela Goh

SCSE's former chair, Prof Angela Goh has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor on 15 September 2020 for her exemplary service to the University.

Prof Goh joined NTU in 1991 and retired in December 2017. She served as Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs) from 2011 to 2017 and Acting Chair of the then-School of Computer Engineering from 2007 to 2010. Building on the foundation laid when Prof Goh led the School, NTU’s School of Computer Science & Engineering has been ranked highly in recent years by several indicators.

As NTU’s first Associate Provost (Faculty Affairs), Prof Goh played a major role in defining and clarifying policies and streamlining processes, including appointment, promotion and tenure processes and other faculty-related matters. She introduced faculty development initiatives such as orientation for new faculty, faculty mentoring and the NTU Leadership Academy. She also advised on faculty and succession planning.

Prof Goh was active in research on the Semantic Web and ontologies, and served on the editorial boards of international journals. She is a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering.

Beyond the University, Prof Goh was involved in national talent identification panels, such as those for the Ministry of Education’s Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent Scheme, Singapore Youth Award, and the Lee Kuan Yew Postgraduate Scholarship. She was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2006.
