More fake news online now, survey finds

More people agree that there is more fake news online now, according to the State of the Internet and Media in Singapore survey findings. The survey also found that WhatsApp is still the most widely used social media platform.

These findings, along with how Singaporeans use the internet, consume news, navigate social media, and how they perceive information integrity in Singapore, were presented at a webinar by the Centre for Information Integrity and the Internet (IN-cube) at NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

At the same webinar, the IN-cube researchers also shared findings from the Digital News Report by the Reuters Institute for Journalism at the University of Oxford. IN-cube is the Singapore partner for this report, which surveys 46 countries on their trust in news media. The report found that Singaporeans’ trust in local news media has gone up.
