Assistant Professor Yuan Congcong

Dr Congcong Yuan specialises in geophysics and geomechanics. He completed his PhD at Harvard University in 2024 and postdoctoral training at Cornell University in 2025.
His research focuses on seismoacoustic wave physics and coupled mechanical processes to investigate fluid-, thermal-, and chemically driven deformation and material cycling from the near surface to the deep lithosphere. By integrating laboratory experiments, numerical simulations, and observational data analysis, his work aims to strengthen the linkage between geophysical measurements and underlying physical processes, enabling improved detection and interpretation of subsurface activities and associated risks relevant to space security, environmental sustainability, and energy transition.
