SEP Team Revente clinches Top Prize at HackSingapore 2023 under the Sustainability Track

Securing the top spot at HackSingapore 2023, SEP Team Revente triumphed by championing the conservation of paper through the digitisation of receipts.

In this month-long nationwide hackathon, 166 teams comprising developers, designers, and entrepreneurs collaborate to brainstorm and build solutions addressing critical social and environmental challenges aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across three themes - financial inclusion, sustainability and digital empowerment.

Inspired by their real-life hassle of receiving paper receipts when purchasing items: "Since we already tap our phones to pay, why can’t we do the same for our receipts?" asked the team, who then came up with a hardware solution that enables users to receive their receipts on their phones in just a tap. The team’s approach eliminates the need for paper receipts while ensuring convenience and privacy as customers are spared the need to input their numbers or emails in order to receive their receipts.

HackSingapore has become a driving force behind team Revente’s commitment to tackling global challenges as they continue exploring ways to bring their product to market.
