Lecture: Transforming NTU Into a Deep Tech Innovation Hub by Prof Louis Phee
Every year, NTU generates research income of nearly S$800 million, files around 500 technology disclosures and licenses more than 100 technologies for commercial adoption.
Over the past decade, the university has created over 400 spin-offs and startups, including more than 120 deep tech startups, collectively valued at over S$1.3B based on their latest funding rounds.
These achievements are a strong foundation for our next ambition - to become a deep tech innovation hub.
In this talk, the College of Engineering's Professor Louis Phee will explore the best practices of top entrepreneurial universities and outline a unique model to transform NTU into a disruptive innovation hub.
The lecture is part of the Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professorship Lecture, a yearly event.
Louis Phee is the Vice President (Innovation & Entrepreneurship) and the Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore and was Dean of the College of Engineering, NTU, from 2018 till 2024. Prior to his deanship, he served three years as Chair of the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.
Phee is the co-founder of 2 NTU startups.
