CRPO Translation Internship Programme

From R&D to Real-World Cybersecurity Innovation

Introduction / Overview 

The CRPO Translation & Innovation Internship Programme offers motivated students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and local polytechinics—including undergraduates, Master’s, and PhD candidates—the opportunity to work at the intersection of cybersecurity research, innovation, and commercialisation. Interns will work with research teams, cybersecurity startups, and industry end-users to support the development and translation of R&D outcomes into real-world solutions. 

As part of CRPO, interns will support translation of research outcomes into products and help accelerate Go-To-Market (GTM) pathways that advance CyberSG ecosystem.

The CRPO Translation Internship Programme is open to students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Polytechnics, including undergraduate and Master’s students. 

 We welcome applicants from Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, as well as Business, Economics, Public Policy, and related disciplines Applicants should have an interest in technology innovation and commercialisation of technologies.  

A technical understanding is not a must but good to have. Most importantly, the applicant should have a willingness to learn and collaborate. Keenness in knowledge sharing with both research and industry partners is highly valued.

1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) – Required 

Please log in to your institution’s official internship or career services portal to upload and submit your CV. 
This ensures your application is properly recorded and verified through your school’s system. 

2. Cover Letter – Optional (May Be Requested) 

A cover letter is optional for most positions. 
However, some project teams may request a cover letter as additional supporting material to better understand your motivation, interest areas, and relevant experience. 
If requested, please submit it together with your CV through your school portal.

Interview 

One round of interview will be conducted, which may include discussions with the research team, startup collaborators, and the CRPO core team. The interview process may vary depending on the specific role and team requirements. 

Scheduled on a rolling basis 

Offer & Confirmation 

Successful applicants will receive an offer and onboarding details. 

Within 1-3 week after interview 

Internship Start 

Internship begins based on agreed start date (aligned with academic calendar and availability). 

 

Is this internship paid? 
Yes. The internship is stipend-supported in line with NTU / IHL internship guidelines. The exact amount may vary depending on academic level, duration, number of hours work on internship activities. 

Who will I be working with during the internship? 

You will work cross-functionally with: 

  • Academic research teams 
  • Cybersecurity startup teams 
  • The CRPO core Translation & Innovation team
  • And where relevant, industry partners or end-users 

This ensures exposure across the cybersecurity innovation ecosystem. 

Where will the internship take place? 

The primary location is in the CRPO Office at NTU.   
Some activities may also involve research labs, partner offices or spinoff’s office, or virtual meetings. 

Is remote or hybrid work possible? 

A hybrid arrangement may be possible depending on project scope and supervisor agreement. 
However, certain meetings, workshops, or partner engagements may require in-person participation. 

How are interns assigned to projects? 

Project matching is based on: 

  • Academic background and interests 
  • Project needs and engagement stage 
  • Skills and learning goals discussed during interviews 

You may be assigned to one primary project or work across multiple coordinated activities. 

What is the typical duration of the internship? 

Internship duration generally aligns with academic internship periods (e.g., 10–24 weeks) but can be adjusted based on requirements and project timelines.
