ITP Overseas Experiential learning trip (UAE)

26th February – 4th March 2023

After a long break, this was the first ITP Overseas Experiential Learning Trip to the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, UAE by the Centre of Excellence International Trading (CEIT NTU) just after the pandemic and our first stop was IFFCO Group’s headquarters in Dubai where our students had the chance to learn more about the various business units within the company, as well as interact with industry experts from the trading team.

Our second stop was at Oilmar Shipping and Chartering DMCC's head office in Dubai we learned more about shipping and tanker operations, as well as marine fuels and carbon fuels trading. As a prominent player in the trading of energy-related commodities, Oilmar provided valuable insights on the role of supply chains in commodity markets and the emerging carbon industry

During the 3rd company site visit to Ghasson Aboud Group (GAG), our students had the pleasure of meeting Mr Ghasson Aboud himself. He shared valuable insights on his journey to becoming a billionaire, expanding his business from automobile parts into a diverse portfolio that included media and food.

During the 4th industry partner site visit, students visited Borouge Innovation Centre, a research and development facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Borouge is a leading provider of innovative, sustainable plastic solutions. Students were impressed by Borouge's advanced machinery and their commitment to sustainability.

During the 5th industry partner site visit, our students visited Abu Dhabi Ports and were eager to learn how the company survived the pandemic. The presentation session covered how Abu Dhabi Ports overcame challenges caused by the pandemic and became a globally recognised player in less than a year.

During our final partner site visit, our students had the privilege of visiting Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), where they were impressed by the company's use of cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence and virtual reality in their operations. They learned how ADNOC contributes significantly to the country's GDP and creates thousands of employments opportunities.

The students also had the opportunity to network with NTU Alumni who are living and working in the UAE. We are grateful to our host partners the UAE for giving ITP students such valuable experiences and lessons.
