A Master Class on Securing the Future of Digital Finance - AI, Blockchain, and Compliance
On 21 May 2026, the NTU Centre in Computational Technologies for Finance (NTU-CCTF) and Monash FinTech Lab jointly organized the Master Class on Securing the Future of Digital Finance: AI, Blockchain, and Compliance at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
The event brought together researchers, industry professionals, and participants from academia and industry to discuss the latest developments in AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, and digital finance.
The master class featured a distinguished lineup of speakers from Monash University and NTU:
• Prof. Joseph Liu shared insights on blockchain infrastructure, cryptocurrencies, Layer-2 technologies, and privacy-enhancing technologies.
• Dr John Tsz Hon Yuen discussed the differences between traditional finance and decentralized finance, as well as AML challenges in cryptocurrency ecosystems.
• Dr Teresa Weiqing Wang introduced AI and machine learning techniques for detecting financial crime and improving AML systems in blockchain environments.
• Prof. Andreas Deppeler explored cryptocurrency compliance, risk management, and the role of AI in strengthening compliance workflows.
• Prof. Li Yi presented research on smart contract security and approaches to identifying vulnerabilities in blockchain systems.
• Prof. Tianwei Zhang discussed AI model alignment and practical approaches for building more trustworthy and controllable AI systems.
The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary discussions on the future of AI, blockchain, and digital finance.
