About Us

In a recent ranking of the world’s top universities for blockchain by Coindesk, NTU was ranked 10th globally. On a macro-scale, blockchain technology seems to have slowly emerged from its “Trough of Disillusionment”, picking up sustained interests in the recent months, and is set to mount up the “Slope of Enlightenment” in its Gartner Hype Cycle. To build on this momentum and to turbocharge Singapore’s efforts to build its digital economy, the NTU Centre in Computational Technologies for Finance, which will position NTU strategically for this blockchain revolution.

With a more coordinated approach to support NTU’s thriving blockchain ecosystem, we hope to further enhance NTU’s blockchain research and academic contributions, and augment its visibility for greater impact to Singapore and beyond.

The Centre comprises of 3 pillars – Education, Research and Community Development：

• Education – To fulfil NTU’s mandate to provide high-quality education that is in line with technological trends. It will consist of a flagship Master of Science (MSc) in Blockchain, which will support the development of timely talents for Singapore in this highly sought-after area.

• Research – To cement NTU’s reputation in blockchain research in Singapore and globally, and to enhance NTU’s strategic partnerships with the industry. The Research pillar will advance cutting-edge fundamental as well as applied research in blockchain with close partnership and funding support from industry and government.

• Community Development – To galvanize the wider blockchain community, the Centre will actively support the "Blockchain at NTU" club, spearhead a pivotal "Innovation Challenge", and convene an annual Blockchain Conference, thereby synergizing thought-leadership, innovation, and collaborative discourse on a regional scale.
