Enhancing Trust in ML Model Trading: Professor Huang Jianwei Delivers Talk on Model Trading at NTU-CCTF

On May 30, 2025, Professor Huang Jianwei, Presidential Chair Professor and Associate Vice President at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, delivered an insightful academic talk titled “Machine Learning Model Trading with Information Asymmetry” at the Innovation Port at The Arc, during his visit to the Centre in Computational Technologies for Finance (CCTF) at NTU.

The event drew a large and enthusiastic audience from College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) and other NTU colleges. Professor. Wen Yonggang, who serves as Professor and President’s Chair in CCDS, the Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of Graduate College NTU, and the Director of NTU-CCTF, hosted the session and gave a warm introduction to Professor Huang. Professor Huang explored how asymmetric information in machine learning model transactions—particularly in privacy-sensitive applications—can create vulnerabilities for buyers. His team proposed a novel verification framework that allows buyers to assess the quality of ML models before purchase, helping to prevent misrepresentation and improve market trust.

The Q&A session saw active participation from students who raised thoughtful questions. To conclude, Professor Huang gave a brief introduction to the CUHK-Shenzhen campus, outlining its international research vision and current recruitment opportunities, encouraging students to explore academic or professional prospects in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
