CAS Facilitates GIBS–CETA Delegation Visit to NTU

The NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies hosts a group of over 30 students and staff from the Gordon Institute of Business Science

The NTU–SBF Centre for African Studies (CAS) had the honour of hosting a high-level delegation from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), in partnership with South Africa’s Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA), during their strategic immersion visit to Singapore on 16 September. The visit formed part of an executive leadership programme designed to equip senior leaders in South Africa’s construction and built environment sectors with international insights on innovation, sustainability, skills development, and infrastructure delivery.

The delegation convened at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (SCEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for a session with Professor Robert Tiong, a leading academic in construction engineering. Professor Tiong shared NTU’s experience in campus development and sustainability initiatives, highlighting the integration of sustainable materials and smart infrastructure into practice. He also outlined Singapore’s construction industry transformation, showing how digitalisation and sustainability have been embedded to drive national growth.

This was followed by an exchange with CAS, which introduced its vision, mission, and growing impact in facilitating Singapore–Africa linkages. The delegates engaged with CAS’s research, seeking opportunities for collaboration in infrastructure and other key sectors.

Hosting delegations such as GIBS–CETA reflects CAS’s mission to facilitate Asia–Africa engagement, drive collaborations across academia and industry, and open new avenues for partnership.
