Agricultural e-commerce set to take off in Rwanda

A new agriculture e-commerce strategy is set to boost the country’s agriculture exports.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) have launched a new policy strategy that aims to promote agriculture exports through digital technology. This strategy will run from 2021 to 2026 and builds on Rwanda’s existing digital expansion plans. The move includes development of web pages for over 20 businesses.

E-commerce has acquired fresh eminence in Africa in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rwanda’s strategy will help formers improve access to existing market opportunities without having to leave their farms.
