Professor Benjamin Horton and co-authors win the 2019 Geological Society of America (GSA) Frye Award

Congratulations to Professor Benjamin Horton, co-author of the report that has been selected as winner of the 2019 Frye Award! The report, which is on sea-level rise, is titled “Recommendation of Sea-Level Rise Planning Scenarios for Delaware”.

The Frye Award is co-sponsored by the GSA and the Association of American State Geologists (AASG), and is given to the best paper on environmental geology during the past three years. The sea-level rise report met the criteria for the award, as it clearly establishes an environmental problem or need, provides substantive information on the geologic and climatic processes pertinent to the problem, provides recommendations for appropriate land use considerations, and presents the information in a manner that is understandable and directly usable by planners, engineers, policy makers, and the educated general public.

The Award will be presented at the Presidential Address and Awards Ceremony on Sunday, September 22, during the 2019 GSA Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
