​Prof. Horton in Lianhe Zaobao: sea level rise biggest threat of global warming to Singapore

Lianhe Zaobao published a full page report on sea level rise and the threat to Singapore, based on an exclusive interview with Professor Benjamin Horton. The report also noted that Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat had talked about the need to protect Singapore’s coasts during Budget 2019, and that a National Sea Level Programme will be launched later this year. In the interview, Prof Horton shared that immediate action must be taken, and highlighted the need for more local and regional data to help prepare for the threat of sea level rise. He added that business leaders must support the government’s move to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and suggesting that Singapore could play a lead role in coordinating efforts across the region.
