Humans of ASE, Part 2: Si Lei – undergraduate student and CEO of ASE Club
Humans of ASE is a nine-part interview series by the ASE Club Publicity team (previously published on Instagram). This part features SE Lei, Chief Events Officer (CEO) of ASE Club, who turns ideas into reality with her team!
Can you give a short introduction about yourself?
I am Si Lei Y2 from Geoscience. E2S2 was a course that really caught my eye because of how exciting and dynamic the realm of study is. And of course, my love for geography enhanced my determination to choose this course.
During last year's Bali trip, what did you like about it the most / what would you like to do again if you were to experience the Bali field trip again?
I enjoyed the geoscience section the most because of how majestic the features looked. It is also very amazing to realise the stories that these features are telling us about the history. It reminded me of how minute humans are and maybe we can focus on the things around us rather than ourselves! Other than all the work, I really enjoyed spending time with my batch mates just chatting over meals and getting to know one another better! So shoutout to my batch for the fun trip together :-)
How has it been like for you being the CEO?
Being the Chief Events is really exciting because I get to decide what kind of events to organise and how it is run! I was super exited for ASE's first night cycling which was a success so thank you everyone for participating! Albeit stressful sometimes, I am super thankful for a super strong team (David and Xavier) for being the anchors in my term as the CEO.
What would you like to say to students that are considering E2S2 as their undergraduate course?
I would definitely welcome you to join our course because it is super fun, interesting and stimulating! There are so many aspects of Earth Science to be explored and I am sure that there will be one that you'll be interested in! Also, the profs and faculties are very friendly and approachable which makes working with them so much more enjoyable! So do consider joining ASE :-)
