​Dr Shawn Lum on climate change on Singapore Tonight: “We all win or we all lose together”

 

In light of the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference in Poland, Senior Lecturer of ASE Dr Shawn Lum was interviewed on “Singapore Tonight”, on the international quest to combat climate change. Dr Lum told the viewers that reversing climate change is still possible but it is an enormous challenge that requires unprecedented changes and currently we are even moving in the wrong direction in many ways. Though we know that for example increased frequency of extreme weather events is liked to climate change, greenhouse gas emissions have increased in the past year. He also pointed out the need for a rules-based system and internationally concerted efforts to turn this global trend. In the words of Dr Lum: “Rich and poor, big and small, we will sink or swim together”.
