It is a partnership of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Saab AB, the top Swedish defence & security technology leader. It undertakes to develop high-end digital technologies for Remote Airport Control Tower and Unmanned Underwater Robotics. The focus of the former is on areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, anomaly detection and unmanned aircraft system camera insertion; while the latter on robot perception (sensing, detection & navigation).
The collaboration is a first of its kind in Asia for Saab AB.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for Airport Management & Remote Tower Control
To build an Artificial Intelligence-Human Hybrid Tower Control System that provides Air Traffic Controllers with real-time tactical and strategic advice to optimise air traffic flow, reduce wait times and improve airport efficiency.
Underwater Object Tracking in Challenging Environments
Unmanned underwater vehicles have spatial perception issues in low visibility environments. The major challenges are to identify an object’s exact position in underwater and underwater communications. The solutions sought could unlock the potential of a market estimated at US$7.64 billion by 2025.
