Nanyang Centre for Public Administration held two online Seminars for Chinese Degree Participants

In October, the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) held two online seminars for Chinese programme students, mainly focused on impact investment and capital operation.

On the morning of October 12th, we are very honored to invite Dr Ma Weihua, the NCPA adjunct professor, to give a 3-hour lecture on the topic: Impact Investment and Sustainable Development.

Dr Ma Weihua is the chairman of the National Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Guidance Fund and the former executive director, president, and CEO of China Merchants Bank Co., Ltd. He is currently the chairman of the board of directors of the Shenzhen International Philanthropy Institute, the chairman of the Social Value Investment Alliance, and has been appointed by the United Nations Development Program China Office as a special consultant and chairman of the Sustainable Development Finance Advisory Committee.

The participants responded enthusiastically to this lecture and actively asked questions during the exchange time. Dr Ma had a detailed exchange on how impact investment can balance financial goodness and capital pursuit, sustainable loans, and internal bank incentive mechanisms to promote sustainable business and development, and financial digitization and informatization. In addition, Dr Ma also shared inclusive financial risks and international risk control factors. The participants related to Dr Ma’s previous work experience as a civil servant, asking him to share his gains and suggestions. They requested him to analyze national policies related to impact investment. The participants all feedbacked that this lecture has benefited them a lot.

On the afternoon of October 26, Mr Li Xiaobo, Partner of Fenghe Group gave a lecture to the students: Winning His Own Life Marathon. Mr. Li shared his personal investment inspiration in the marathon. He related to his philosophy of life, emphasizing seizing the opportunities for learning and improvement, enhancing his potential in sports, and improving himself in public welfare undertakings.

Mr. Li Xiaobo is a senior investor with more than 25 years of experience in the operation and management of capital markets, family offices, and charitable foundations.

During the exchange session, Mr. Li also had a lively discussion with the participants on the policies of China and Singapore on digital currency, capital circulation, and public welfare undertakings.

These two seminars stimulated the students' interest in finance and investment, created a communication channel between the students and the speakers, and expanded the discussion topics and space among the participants.
