Celebrating Achievement and Connection: NTU’s 17th China Convocation and NCPA Alumni Reunion in Chongqing

On 20 September 2025, NTU Singapore held its 17th China Convocation in Chongqing, with more than 300 graduates in attendance. The ceremony celebrated the academic achievements of NCPA graduates from the Executive Master of Science in Managerial Economics (EMME), Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA), Master of Science in Managerial Economics (MME), and graduates from other programmes – the Nanyang Executive MBA (Chinese), Master of Science in Finance (MSc Finance), Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation (MSc TIP) as well as the Master of Arts (Educational Management).

In conjunction with the convocation, the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) organised a trio of events on 19 September 2025, bringing together graduates, alumni, and friends of the NCPA community.

Besides the NCPA Annual Alumni Reunion and Alumni Council Inauguration, a master’s programmes information sharing session, as well as the NTU-Stratagem Dialogue on “Building a Resilient China-ASEAN Economic Community” were also held on the same day.

Charting the Path Forward: Introduction to NCPA Master’s Programmes

The day kicked off with the much-anticipated master’s programme introduction session which provided an informative platform for working professionals and aspiring students seeking to advance their expertise in economic and public management. Led by NCPA’s Deputy Director Dr Wang Hang, along with Ms Shelly Lu and Ms Huang Shuang, the deep dive session featured comprehensive briefings on NCPA’s six master’s programmes covering academic focus, admission requirements, and career prospects. The special “face-to-face” segment also allowed participants to receive a one-on-one academic counselling, and tailored guidance to plan their postgraduate journey and professional trajectories.

Advancing Regional Connectivity: NTU–Stratagem Group Dialogue

Another key spotlight was the NTU–Stratagem Group Dialogue, themed “Building a Resilient China–ASEAN Economic Community: Impact of the New Land–Sea Trade Corridor on China–ASEAN Cooperation,” that convened distinguished scholars, policymakers, and business leaders for a high-level exchange on regional economic governance.

Discussions centered on the China–Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity – International Land–Sea Trade Corridor (CCI–ILSTC) with a focus on the exchange of perspectives and how connectivity initiatives can foster sustainable growth, regional integration, and greater economic resilience. The event reaffirmed NTU and NCPA’s role as conveners of meaningful dialogue that bridges academia, policy, and practice across Asia. Honouring Alumni and Renewing Bonds

The day’s celebrations culminated with the NCPA Annual Alumni Reunion and the Inauguration of the new NCPA Alumni Association Council. The event was graced by Professor Jon Wilson, Dean, College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences (CoHass) who commended NCPA for its remarkable progress in postgraduate education, executive training, and research innovation. He highlighted the strength of the growing alumni network and encouraged members to continue supporting NCPA’s mission of advancing governance excellence in Asia.Professor Liu Hong, Associate Vice President, International and Director, Research and Executive Education, Professor Wang Jue, Director, NCPA and Dr Wang Hang, Deputy Director, NCPA and other faculty leaders also attended the events. In his address, Mr Liao Qingxuan, representing the NCPA Alumni Association Council, reflected on the Association’s growth since its inception, expressed sincere gratitude to the founding committee for their efforts, and committed to further strengthening alumni engagement through a range of academic, cultural, and professional initiatives.

The reunion concluded on a warm and celebratory note, as alumni, both long-standing and newly graduated, reconnected to share memories, exchange insights, and explore future collaborations.

This successful event achieved three key outcomes: it strengthened community bonds, fostered a strong sense of belonging, and heralded the beginning of an exciting and dynamic new chapter for the NCPA Alumni Association, promising greater collaboration, engagement, and shared achievements ahead.
