Seminar Abstract

FDM 3D printing has been widely used for prototyping and fabrication of visual samples, such as automotive, aerospace, and biomedical applications. Despite of recent advancement in FDM 3D printing, 3 critical problems, low mechanical properties, low throughput, lack of quality management method, remain a barrier to adopt in various applications. In this study, we proposed a method to improve mechanical properties and printing time through a software approach. With our approach, the relative ultimate tensile strength had increased by 15 % compared to commonly used method. At the same time, printing time have been reduced by nearly 30% at most. Overall, our approach is a method that not only improves the mechanical properties but also reduces the printing time using only software without hardware modifications and upgrades.
