The Third Digital Trust Research Symposium 2026

The Digital Trust Centre (DTC), Nanyang Technological University Singapore, successfully hosted The Third Digital Trust Research Symposium 2026 on 18–19 May 2026. Held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Digital Trust”, the symposium brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and practitioners to discuss emerging developments in AI, digital trust, decentralised identity, and privacy-preserving technologies.

Over the two-day symposium, participants engaged in keynote presentations, invited talks, and panel discussions covering a broad range of topics related to digital trust and next-generation AI systems.

The symposium opened with welcome remarks by Prof Lam Kwok Yan and A/Prof Xingliang Yuan. Keynote sessions featured internationally recognised experts including Prof Lam Kwok Yan, Prof Surya Nepal, Prof Elisa Bertino, Prof Marten van Dijk, Prof Yang Xiang, and Prof Cong Wang.

Highlighted keynote topics included:

• Building digital trust through decentralized identity and AI
• Human–AI dynamics in trustworthy AI systems
• AI trustworthiness
• AI challenges and opportunities
• Agentic AI across software, models, and the physical world

The programme also featured invited talks by Prof Xiaoxiao Li, Prof Hyoungshick Kim, Prof Carsten Maple, Dr Thuan Pham, Dr Shaanan Cohney, and Ms Seah Park, who shared insights on areas including LLM agents, AI assurance, digital identity, and AI developments in Korea.

Two panel discussions encouraged deeper conversations on:

• The role of privacy-preserving techniques in trustworthy AI
• Decentralization and digital identity as trust infrastructure for agentic AI

The panels featured experts from academia and industry, fostering engaging discussions on future directions and opportunities in digital trust research.

The symposium also provided valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration among researchers, students, and professionals from around the world. Attendees exchanged ideas and explored potential collaborations in advancing trustworthy and human-centric digital technologies.
