Sourav S Bhowmick is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University and the Research Lead, DMAL. He is affiliated with the Data Management Research Group @ NTU (DANTE), Social Analytics Research (SONAR) Group, and Computational and System Biology (COSBY) Group. He was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA (2006-2012). He is currently a Senior Visiting Prof at Fudan Univ, China. Sourav received his Ph.D. in computer engineering in 2001.

Sourav’s core research expertise is in the field of data management and analytics. His current research interests is multi-disciplinary in flavor, focusing primarily on the following two types of research: (a) Rethinking widely-accepted traditional data management techniques due to progress in other domains (e.g., HCI). (b) Exploring novel and important data management/analytics problems at the interfaces of non-computer science disciplines such as social science and systems biology.

He has published more than 150 papers in major international data management, data mining, bioinformatics, and systems biology venues such as VLDB, ICDE, WWW, SIGMOD, CIDR, SIGKDD, MM, EDBT, CIKM, BCB, SIGHIT, TKDE, VLDB Journal, Bioinformatics, and Biophysical Journal. The common thread running through his research is a focus on going beyond papers to build usable novel systems and prototypes.

Sourav is serving as a PC member of various data management and mining conferences and reviewer for various data management journals. He has served as a program chair/co-chair of several international conferences and workshops. He is a member of the editorial boards of several international journals. Sourav has been tutorial speaker in several international conferences such as ER 2006, APWeb 2008, WAIM 2008, PAKDD 2009 and 2011, DASFAA 2011 and 2012, and ADMA 2012. He has received Best Paper Awards in ACM CIKM 2004 and ACM BCB 2011.

Dr. SUN Aixin is an Associate Professor with School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He received B.A.Sc (1st class honours) and Ph.D. from the same school in 2001 and 2004 respectively. He was a Postdoc Fellow with School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. Aixin's research interests include Information Retrieval, Text/Web Mining, Social Computing, Multimedia, and Digital Libraries. He has published more than 90 papers in major international conferences and journals in the related areas. His papers appeared in ACM SIGIR, ACM WSDM, ACM Multimedia, ACM CIKM, ACM EC, ACM/IEEE JCDL, IEEE ICDM, TKDE, DSS, JASIST, IP&M and KAIS. Aixin has been a PC member of many data mining/information retrieval conferences including ACM SIGIR, ACM Multimedia, ACM WSDM, and reviewer for several journals and IEEE/ACM transactions. He is a member of ACM.

Dr. Hui Siu Cheung is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics in 1983 and D. Phil in 1987 from the University of Sussex, UK. He worked in IBM China/Hong Kong Corporation as a system engineer from 1987 to 1990. His current research interests include data mining, Web mining, Semantic Web, intelligent systems, information retrieval, educational data mining.

CONG, Gao is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Before joining NTU, he was an Assistant professor in Aalborg University, Denmark (2008-2009). Before that, he worked as a researcher at the Microsoft Research Asia. From 2004 to 2006, he worked as a postdoc research fellow in the database group within the University of Edinburgh. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from National University of Singapore in 2004.

His general research interests include data management, and data/text mining. Specifically, he is working on search and mining social media, and spatial keyword query processing. His work is published in premier database, data mining, and information retrieval conferences, such as ACM SIGMOD, PVLDB, ACM KDD, ICDE, WWW, ACM SIGIR, ACM CIKM, ICDM, etc.

Yonggang Wen received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (with minor in Western Literature) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2008; his MPhil degree (with honor) in Information Engineering from Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong, China, in 2001; and his BEng degree (with honor) in Electronic Engineering and Information Science from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei, Anhui, China, in 1999. His major field of study focuses on information and communication technologies (ICT).

He is currently an Assistant Professor with School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Previously, he has worked in Cisco as a Senior Software Engineer and a System Architect for content networking products. He  has also worked as a Research Intern at Bell Laboratories, Sycamore Networks and Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratory (MERL), and served as a Technical Advisor to the Chairman at Linear A Networks, Inc. In academic research, he has published more than 40 papers in top journals (e.g., IEEE JLT, IEEE JSAC and IEEE TWC) and prestigious conferences (e.g.,  Infocom, ISIT,   Globecom and ICC). In technology commercialization, the product he led to develop has been under trial with more than 10 international service providers, and booked revenue of 10 Million US dollars annually and had a revenue impact of 3 Billion US dollars globally. His system research has been featured by international media (e.g.,The Straits Times, The Business Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Channel News Asia, DNet, CNet, United Press International, ACM Tech News, Times of India, Yahoo News, etc). His research interests include cloud computing, mobile computing, multimedia network, cyber security and green ICT.

Dr. Wen is a member of Sigma Xi (the Scientific  Research  Society), IEEE and SIAM. He has served as a TPC Co-chair for conferences (2012 GameNets@Vancouver, Canada, 2012 IEEEMSN@Chengdu, China) and workshops (2009 IEEE HSN @ Infocom 2009), a Publicity Co-chair for ICCCN 2011 and PCM 2012, served as a Guest Editor for IEEE MMTC E-letter Special Issue on network-aware video streaming and IEEE Transactions on Multimedia Special Issue on mobile cloud media, and served as a TPC member for major conferences (Infocom, ICC, Globecom) sponsored by IEEE Communication Society and Computer Society. He co-founded IEEE ComSoc SIG on  Green Data Center and Cloud Computing, and is serving as the vice chair for IEEE ComSoc MMTC (2012- ), and served as a SIG leader for IEEE ComSoc MMTC (2010-2012). He was one of the recipients of Cisco Pioneer Award (honorable mentioning) in 2009, received Cisco Achievement Program Award twice in 2010, and was in the final list for Singapore NRF fellowship.
