Testimonials

I chose Civil Engineering at NTU because it opens a wide range of possibilities. While many of us aspire to be civil engineers, the course equips us with strong fundamentals to pursue diverse specialisations, from structures to water resources, geotechnics, and more. That versatility is something I really value.

The range of modules I've taken has helped me discover what I truly enjoy, especially topics related to mechanics. The assessments also provided me with a clearer picture of the skills and mindset required to thrive as an engineer.

My learning journey has been shaped by a supportive and collaborative community. Seniors and peers have always been willing to share notes, past-year papers, and tips that saw us through the toughest times.

Pursuing a PhD was something I never expected, but career talks, guidance from professors, and conversations with industry professionals broadened my perspective. NTU has taught me that engineering goes beyond analysis - every problem involves people, and understanding that makes us better problem solvers for the real world.

Studying Environmental Engineering at NTU has given me a deep appreciation for how engineering can address the challenges our planet faces today. I enjoyed learning about a wide range of environmental topics, from water and air pollution to resource management, and seeing how science and engineering can drive sustainable solutions. The course pushed me to think critically about real-world issues while equipping me with both broad knowledge and technical skills.

My journey was also one of sell-discovery. Having initially started in accounting, I wasn't sure where my strengths lay. However, through the switch to Environmental Engineering, I realised how much I enjoyed scientific research and problem-solving, and how meaningful it was to work on sustainability-focused solutions.

I am grateful for the supportive professors who encouraged me to grow beyond the classroom, and for the friendships that made late-night study sessions far more enjoyable. Internships and my final year project played a key role in shaping my career path - helping me understand what truly motivates me and opening my
eyes to opportunities in research and academia.

NTU has instilled in me adaptability, resilience, and a multidisciplinary mindset, preparing me to tackle environmental challenges with both innovation and purpose.

What I enjoy most about Maritime Studies at NTU is how globally relevant and practical the programme is. It combines both the technical and commercial aspects of the shipping and logistics industry, providing me with a strong understanding of how global trade and supply chains keep the world moving. The professors are supportive and approachable, and the school offers numerous hands-on opportunities to explore real-world industry challenges.

Throughout my studies, I received valuable exposure to different roles through internships, networking events, and guidance from career coaches. These experiences helped me discover that I thrive in fast-paced and analytical environments that involve market insights and strategic decision-making. This ultimately led me to pursue a path in commodities trading.

One of the highlights of my NTU journey was participating in an exchange programme to Rotterdam. Studying in Europe broadened my global outlook and deepened my appreciation for the international nature of maritime business. I also challenged myself by co-founding a startup, which taught me leadership, resilience, and how to turn ideas Into meaningful outcomes.

NTU prepared me not only academically but also professionally - teaching me how to evaluate complex problems, collaborate effectively, and remain adaptable in a rapidly evolving industry. These skills continue to empower me in my current role, contributing to the global food and resource supply chains.
