The 16th Conference of the International Thredbo Conference Series on “Competition and Ownership in Land Passenger Transport” was held at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, from Sunday 25 to Friday 30 August 2019. The Thredbo 16 Conference was jointly organised by NTU and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore under the auspice of the NTU-LTA Transport Research Centre (TRC@NTU). The Thredbo Conference Series was first established in 1989 by Professor David Hensher and the late Professor Michael Beesley CBE, and since then, it has been held biennially in locations all over the world. This is the first time that the Conference is hosted in an Asian location and Singapore has been chosen for this milestone event in the history of the Thredbo Series. The Thredbo 16 Conference is graced by Senior Minister of State Dr Janil Puthucheary and receives over 160 delegates from 30 countries.
The Thredbo Conference Series is aimed at a broad audience of policy makers, planners, decision-makers on infrastructure, and service operators, consultants, researchers, academics and students. As with past conferences, Thredbo 16 features plenary sessions and a series of intensive workshops based around keynote papers and a series of resource papers providing a range of international perspectives on each issue.
