CEE International Alumni Webinar Series: Digital Technologies of Construction – Pivoting to Smart City’s Future, 25 Mar 2022 (2pm - 4pm)

25 Mar 2022 02.00 PM - 04.00 PM Alumni, Current Students, Industry/Academic Partners, Public

In the new age of the digital revolution, we are witnessing a transformational change of our built-environment powered by the digital technologies of construction. It is ever so compelling and demanding in the face of social-economic pressures, climate change, and a sustainable future in the coming years. Our engineers in the industry must position themselves to assume leadership, embrace digital technologies, and confront the new reality of increasing manpower crunch, productivity bottleneck, and cost inflation, among others.

A key aspect of innovation that engineers have developed is the digital intelligence integration and transformation of construction processes. It combines various platforms of concept, design, development, construction, operation, and maintenance – converging these platforms into one single entity, with a focus on cross data references and input-output analytics. This is for cutting down the waste of resources and disposables, escalating efficiency to a new level of proficiency in terms of cost, time and quality deliverables. The Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other digital intelligence integration software are spearheading the change and are becoming more prevalent in advanced economies including China.

The webinar will cover new and refreshing insights and ideas on other aspects of innovation in the comprehensive application of intelligent construction in 3D printing, based on robotics and artificial intelligence, e.g. implementing new, functional and intelligent construction methodologies as well as using robotic arms to develop a variety of concrete 3D printing equipment. Other examples include new intelligent building materials and structural systems, and the 3D micro-reinforced synchronous technology. A revolutionary construction protocol is evolving as well as several fast finding applications in the industry.

This webinar is organised by the Overseas Alumni Network of NTU CEE Alumni Association.
