Learning Expedition to Singapore 2026 | NTU-CCTF Hosts Winter Exchange Program for International School of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT)
From January 25 to 29, 2026, the NTU Centre in Computational Technologies for Finance (CCTF) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) welcomed a delegation of faculty and students from the International School of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and successfully completed the “Study Tour in Singapore – NTU Winter Exchange Programme.” Organized by NTU-CCTF, the program offered a comprehensive learning platform that combined structured coursework with diverse practical visits, enabling participants to gain in-depth insights into NTU’s research and innovation environment as well as Singapore’s social, industrial, and cultural landscapes.

On the day of arrival, NTU-CCTF hosted a warm Welcome Ceremony for the visiting delegation, presenting welcome gifts and creating an inviting and festive atmosphere. During the ceremony, Prof. Li Yi, Associate Director of NTU-CCTF, and Li Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the International School BUPT, delivered speeches, encouraging students to make the most of the exchange experience.

Following the ceremony, the CCTF team introduced the overall program itinerary and key guidelines, laying a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the learning activities.

Throughout the multi-day program, academic depth and practical application were equally emphasized. BUPT students participated in a series of advanced courses taught by NTU professors, including Introduction to Brain-Computer Interface and Application by Prof. Guan Cun ai, which focused on brain-computer interface technology and its application scenarios, helping students understand its potential in medical rehabilitation, human-computer interaction, and other fields.

Prof. Li Yi, in the course Blockchain Fundamentals, provided an in-depth explanation of the basic principles and development trends of blockchain technology. Through clear and systematic presentation, students gained a refreshed perspective, recognizing the rich technical logic and broad application potential behind blockchain.

Prof. Fan Xiu Yi delivered AI in Medicine: Overview and Recent Developments, sharing the latest research progress of artificial intelligence in the medical field. By combining overall perspectives with cutting-edge case studies, the course helped students better understand the practical value of AI in medical applications.
NTU’s Robotics Research Centre (RRC)
Beyond classroom learning, the program included high-quality research and industry visits. Students explored NTU’s Robotics Research Centre (RRC), gaining first-hand understanding of NTU’s interdisciplinary research ecosystem in robotics and AI and witnessing the transition of research from theoretical exploration to engineering practice.
Singapore City Gallery
At the Singapore City Gallery, participants learned about Singapore’s urban governance strategies and long-term planning under limited land resources, experiencing firsthand the country’s approach of integrating urban and national development.
Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS)
At the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), students explored advanced automotive production processes and technologies through VR visualizations and immersive interactive experiences. They also experienced driving electric vehicles on the Skytrack rooftop test track, Singapore’s only rooftop driving course, observing the technical advantages in acceleration and handling.

In addition, the students visited Canaan Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company specializing in AI chip development. Mr. Zhang Nangeng, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Canaan Inc., together with Ms. Meng Lu, Board Secretary and Executive Assistant to the CEO, as well as several senior technical experts, delivered thematic briefings on the company’s technological roadmap and research and development directions. They also engaged in on-site discussions and Q&A sessions, systematically explaining the technical logic underlying high-performance computing for blockchain and artificial intelligence, thereby laying a solid cognitive foundation for the students’ future research and exploration in related fields.

At the Closing Dinner and Certificate Ceremony, Prof. Wen Yonggang, Vice Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean, Graduate College, and Director of CCTF, delivered a speech reflecting on the students’ achievements across courses, research visits, and industry exchanges, encouraging them to continue exploring how technology addresses real-world societal needs and to broaden their international perspectives. Li Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of International School BUPT summarized the program, highly commending its outcomes, expressing gratitude to the teaching teams, and highlighting the hope for enduring friendship and continued collaboration between the two institutions. Representatives of the visiting students also shared their learning experiences and practical gains, followed by the presentation of completion certificates by Associate Director of CCTF Prof. Zhang Tianwei and Prof. Fan Xiuyi from Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
