In collaboration with AlgoHUB, a physical workshop was conducted with speakers sharing about the different technological trends and innovations in the blockchain space.

During the panel session, career opportunities and bringing more female talent into the blockchain space was also discussed.

About the speakers 

1. Karen CohenAlgoHUB

Karen Cohen aka “blockmum” is the Founder and Director of Emerging Tech Talent, a company that helps humans connect to Emerging Technology. She is the Founder of Women in Emerging Tech and Previous Deputy Chair for Blockchain Australia. She is Community Champion for Algorand Foundation and Program Manager for AlgoHUB, the virtual Blockchain Developers and Student Hub for the Algorand Foundation. She is the 2021 winner of the Lift Off Awards for Diversity and Inclusion Tech Leader.

2Ivy Fung: WIBA

Ivy Fung is a trainer specializing in blockchain, the technology that supports cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). As one of the first few trainers and pioneers in the industry, she is instrumental in bringing the blockchain syllabus to top universities in the Philippines, including Ateneo de Manila, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and National University Philippines. Since 2018, Ivy has trained hundreds of lecturers in Southeast Asia.

 3. Cici Lu McCalman: Algorand Community Ambassador

Cici Lu is CEO & Principal Consultant of Venn link. She started her global markets career in Investment Banking M&A with one of the largest North American Banks in Toronto, then she pursued her interest in macroeconomics by joining its FX team as a trader in London and Sydney. In 2008, she relocated to Singapore and managed the bank’s global FX risk in the Asia time zone during the GFC. Later, she was also a trader for government & credit bonds during the European debt crisis. In addition, she have ESG experience, leading an ESG project for one of the largest European Banks, which has galvanized her strong belief of the positive role crypto can play in sustainable investment.

 4. Jackie Tan: Tribex

Dr Jackie Tan is the Head of Tribe Academy, a platform that connects talents to Web2 and Web3 learning opportunities. He is a serial entrepreneur who was awarded Forbes 30-Under-30 and the National Youth Entrepreneurship Award for his startup work, with two exits under his belt. Dr Jackie was an early member of Sentinel Chain, a blockchain-based financial inclusion startup that helped unbanked farmers gain access to financial services. He also led over 30+ data science projects, with some that combined machine learning and blockchain data. Dr Jackie is also currently an adjunct professor in the School of Biological Sciences in Nanyang Technological University, lecturer in the School of InfoComm Technology in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and the CTO-in-residence in the Centre for Experiential Learning in the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
