This seminar presentation will discuss the imagined nation-building of Singaporean and Malaysian Chinese after World War II, as well as their different choices of fate. This research focuses on exploring the thoughts of Singaporean and Malaysian Chinese of different factions, especially the conflict and changes of different political thoughts. What are their specific views? How did they defend their own positions? How did they criticize the British colonial government and the Malaya authorities? This seminar will share the speaker’s preliminary research, including research background, research questions, and research methods, as well as the speaker’s data collection during her stay in Singapore.
