CCEH Strengthening Southeast Asia’s climate–health science through philanthropy.
NTU spotlights CCEH’s impact through collaboration with the Tsao Family Foundation.
The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is strengthening its role as a regional hub for climate–health research, as highlighted in a recent feature published on the NTU website. The article recognises how philanthropic support from the Tsao Family Foundation is enabling CCEH to scale its research and collaboration across Southeast Asia, where climate risks and health impacts are increasingly interconnected.
CCEH is building a robust, regionally grounded research programme to address key climate-related health risks, including heat stress, air pollution, and water-related diseases. Central to this effort is CARE-ASIA, a CCEH-led regional research network that brings together researchers across Asia to support data sharing, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and evidence generation that reflects regional realities.
“Data availability has long constrained climate–health research in Southeast Asia,” said Steve Yim, Director of CCEH. “Through CARE-ASIA, we are able to work with partners who bring local expertise and data, helping us better understand shared regional challenges and translate findings into public health action.”
With strategic support from the Tsao Family Foundation, CCEH is strengthening its research priorities and sustaining multi-country collaboration, contributing evidence that supports climate-resilient public health action and policy across the region. NTU’s recognition reflects the growing importance of CCEH’s work in generating science that responds to the unique climate–health challenges of Southeast Asia
