NTU students win the SBCC x Africa Challenge 2026

A team of four NTU undergraduate students — Marcus Lee Mun Seng, Ryan Ng Kai Kiat, Sin Ming Wei and Chin Joon Fai — emerged as champions of this year’s competition, outperforming 130 other teams of 435 participants.

The case challenge tasked participants with developing a strategy for a Singapore-based cold chain logistics company to successfully expand into West Africa’s pharmaceutical industry while maximising impact. Marcus, Ryan, Ming Wei and Joon Fai proposed an asset-light, tech-enabled, and locally adapted cold chain ecosystem that enables the company to deliver end-to-end pharmaceutical logistics (Delivered Duty Paid/DDP) in West Africa.

Five teams competed in the grand finals, which took place in NTU on 28 March 2026. The event was sponsored by Olam Agri and supported by the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies. Marcus, Ryan, Ming Wei and Joon Fai clinched the Champion position, winning a cash prize of S$1500 and an all-expenses paid trip to Ghana. A group of four NUS students Amanda Pao Yuen Teng, Bethany Teo Zi Lin, Luo Zheng Xian and Ryan Aidan Baretto; and a group of four students from Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia, Agnes Winona Vania Oey, Claudia Melati Krid, Leora Josephine Gionina and Daffa Mochamad Sabiq, were both awarded the 1^st runner-up, receiving S$1200 in cash price for each team. This marks the first time an overseas university has placed among the top teams in the SBCC x Africa Challenge.

This year’s panel of judges were H.E. Francisca Kemi Omayuli, the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Singapore; Mr Venkataramani Srivathsan, Director, Arise P&L; Ms Kohe Hasan, the Honorary Consulate General of Ghana in Singapore; Ms Samantha Teo, Executive Director, Singapore Business Federation; and Mr Kong Wy Mun, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.
