About Us

An inter-disciplinary research centre of the School of Art, Design and Media, the Centre for Asian Art and Design (CAAD) focuses on the study of historical and related contemporary issues in Asian Art and Design, with emphasis on their influence on local, regional and international cultures.

A convener of individual, institutional, local, and international partners, CAAD offers co- and extra-curricular educational programming to the ADM community as well as creative constituencies throughout Singapore and around the globe.

The Centre addresses a broad geography, including the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia, as well as the global diaspora. Research and educational programming connects to the humanities, social sciences, fine arts, performing arts, and design including the built environment, connecting research and practice in these areas to current technologies and their potential roles in the fourth industrial revolution.
