SCSE Prof has been elected as 2021 AIMBE Fellow for “Outstanding Contributions to Brain-Computer Interfaces and Neural Engineering”

Prof Guan Cuntai has been elected as a Fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for his “Outstanding Contributions to Brain-Computer Interfaces and Neural Engineering”.  Prof Guan is a Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He is internationally known for his research in Brain-computer Interface (BCI) research, a multi-disciplinary research area. He developed advanced machine learning approaches for BCI that are widely deployed and referenced.  His seminal work in applying BCI for various medical applications has created sustained impact. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The College of Fellows is comprised of the top two percent of medical and biological engineers in the country. The most accomplished and distinguished engineering and medical school chairs, research directors, professors, innovators, and successful entrepreneurs comprise the College of Fellows. AIMBE Fellows are regularly recognized for their contributions in teaching, research, and innovation. AIMBE Fellows have been awarded the Nobel Prize, the Presidential Medal of Science and the Presidential Medal of Technology and Innovation and many also are members of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Medicine, and the National Academy of Sciences.
