Meet our MSc TIP alumnus, Eric Andhika!

Eric Putra Andhika, MSc Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme (Class of 2022)

Eric Putra Andhika, MSc TIP Class of 2022, spoke to us about the guidance the programme has provided him as he embarks on his entrepreneurial journey. Through the knowledge he has gained, he emphasises on the importance of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and self-improvement.

What kickstarted your interest in entrepreneurship?
My interest in entrepreneurship began when I was in junior high school. At that time, I ran a small business by selling affordable sports apparels to my schoolmates. The experience gave me a sense of satisfaction seeing my friends’ smiles upon receiving the products.

How has your MSc TIP experience been?
It has been a fun journey so far. I really enjoyed the hands-on learning from our lecturers who are real practitioners and from my classmates who have many interesting thoughts and ideas. We are encouraged and challenged to apply what we have learnt in our assignments.

What insights have you gained from MSc TIP?
I gained many interesting insights about various technologies that may change the way we live in the future and how we can commercialise those technologies. I also received useful and practical advice about managing start-ups through the different stages, from starting it, growing it, and finally getting an exit. Through this programme, my entrepreneurial mindset has been further strengthened.

What advice would you have for students interested in this field?
My advice for everyone is to step out of their comfort zone. It might seem terrifying at first, but the only way to grow ourselves to be a better person and to reach our dreams is to leap into the unknown. Meet new people and try something you have never done before.

What’s next for your journey as an entrepreneur?
As an entrepreneur, I believe that continuous learning is important. Therefore, I want to keep upgrading my entrepreneurial capabilities. My plan after graduation is to join a startup or innovation consulting firm before I start my own business.

For students like Eric, with a thirst for knowledge and aim to start their own companies, learn more about our programmes as we continue to cultivate entrepreneurship with a multidisciplinary approach and foster the diversity of ideas.
