Hari Kumar is the Founder and CEO of LionRock Capital since 2009. Based in Singapore, LionRock is a single-family office that employs an endowment style approach to making long term investments in public and private equity markets, directly and through externally managed funds. Lionrock has investments in over 25 early-stage private growth companies, particularly in the technology and consumer areas. Prior to this endeavor, Hari was co-Founder and Partner at TPG-Axon Capital, a hedge fund based out of New York and Hong Kong, where he was responsible for Non-Japan Asian investing and technology investing on a global basis. Hari launched his career at Goldman Sachs and worked in the Singapore and Hong Kong offices from 1995 to 2004.

Hari and his wife, Sonia, are actively involved in philanthropy related to educational initiatives with particular emphasis on providing financial support to students in Singapore, India and the United States. The Kumar Philanthropic Foundation provides grants to various organisations involved in providing basic education to underprivileged students, supporting elder care and accelerating technology innovation projects by secondary and college students. In Singapore and the US, the Foundation is also focused on the area of sustainability and supports both early-stage research and startup ideas in the space.

Hari earned a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School and a Bachelor in Applied Science from the School of Engineering & Applied Science in 1995 through the University of Pennsylvania Jerome Fisher Management & Technology dual degree programme.  Hari is a member of the University of Pennsylvania Asia Leadership Committee, the External Advisory Board to the College at the University of Pennsylvania and serves on the International Advisory Board of the Center for the Advanced Study of India.
