Generative AI Utility in Research: Opportunities and Challenges

18 Jul 2025 02.00 PM - 05.00 PM The Hive (Learning Hub South - LHS 01-04) Lecture Theater Alumni, Current Students

The role of generative AI in knowledge discovery and research is rapidly expanding. While the opportunities are considerable, there are also notable challenges in adapting such technologies to research practices. This lecture will explore recent trends, deepen understanding of AI applications in applied research, and examine how large language models (LLMs) and advanced AI systems are developed and used. Practical examples—both successful and problematic—will be discussed to highlight the spectrum of current usage.
