CCEH Congratulates Dr Edward Park on Receiving the IAG Early Career Medal
The award recognises outstanding early-career contributions to geomorphology and highlights the importance of advancing research on tropical river systems.
The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) warmly congratulates Dr Edward Park (the lead of the Water Quality and Supply Cluster at CCEH), on receiving the IAG Early Career Medal at the 11th International Conference on Geomorphology, held from 2–6 February 2026 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Presented by the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG), the medal recognises early-career researchers who have made sustained scientific contributions to the global geomorphology community.
Dr Park is affiliated with the National Institute of Education, Asian School of the Environment, and Nanyang Technological University Singapore, and serves as a Principal Investigator at both the Earth Observatory of Singapore and the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health.
Dr Park’s impactful research on tropical river processes in the Anthropocene has improved understanding of sediment dynamics, sand mining impacts, and the vulnerability of river deltas across Southeast Asia. Through the integration of field observations, remote sensing, and modelling approaches, his work provides valuable scientific insights that support sustainable river basin management and environmental resilience.
This recognition also highlights the importance of supporting the next generation of researchers who are advancing interdisciplinary science to address global environmental challenges. CCEH celebrates Dr Park’s achievements and looks forward to the continued impact of his research in strengthening scientific knowledge and inspiring emerging scientists in the field.
