RESEARCH ORIGIN

Before I-SING

The seeds of I-SING were planted in 2010 through a foundational A*STAR supported study on how older adults interact with and adopt everyday digital technologies. Led by Prof Theng Yin Leng at NTU, this research asked a deceptively simple question: “How do seniors actually engage with technology in their daily lives?”

The findings revealed both a gap and an opportunity. Older adults were underserved by existing digital interfaces, yet responsive to engaging, socially embedded experiences. This insight directly shaped the exergame design philosophy: structured, competitive, socially engaged, and movement-based.
