16 Oct 2019 Industry/Academic Partners

The Ageing Research Institute for Society and Education (ARISE) at the Nanyang Technological University(NTU) organize its inaugural ARISE Think Tank Roundtable on ageing-related issues on 16th October 2019 at Nanyang Technological University, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Clinical Sciences Building.

ARISE Think Tank Roundtable, addresses the opportunities for new-age technologies to tackle the challenges presented by the ageing population in Asia and around the world. The goal is to identify business opportunities and policy mechanisms that can address the critical needs of older adults. The specific focus of the roundtable discussion revolve around gerontechnology - an interdisciplinary field that combines gerontology, the scientific study of ageing research, development and deployment of products, and services to meet the aspirations and needs of the ageing population. In an ageing society like Singapore where the government is preparing the nation for a digital revolution, it is increasingly important to chart out the prevalence, challenges and policies related to gerontechnology within the context of the Smart Nation Initiative in Singapore.

The invitees are a mix of leaders from business (for example, technology companies, financial services, medical information technology companies), philanthropic foundations, academics from the local & international universities, government agencies and policy makers. The reflection, outcome discussion and recommendation points will be published as a policy brief. The aim of the brief is to highlight insights to government policymakers who are instrumental in formulating and influencing policy on the ageing issues in Singapore.

It was an honour and privilege to have Madam Halimah as our Guest-of-Honour.
